Sergei Sobyanin congratulated on his birthday the Music Director & Chief Conductor of the Moscow State Academic Symphony Orchestra, People's Artist of Russia, Pavel Kogan.
The telegram of the Moscow Mayor, in particular, says:
“An outstanding violinist and conductor, you make a great contribution to the development of musical art, popularization of Russian and world classical music.
The Moscow State Symphony Orchestra under your direction enriches the cultural space of the capital and adequately represents Russia at the world's leading concert venues.
May your multifaceted creativity continue to give your fans joy, goodness, and unforgettable impressions."
Pavel Kogan was born into a musical family. He received special permission to simultaneously study the skills of conductor and violinist at the Moscow State Conservatory named after P.I. Tchaikovsky. Pavel Kogan made his debut as a conductor in 1972 with the USSR State Academic Symphony Orchestra. He also performed with major Soviet orchestras both in the country and abroad. Since 1989, Pavel Kogan has been the Music Director and Chief Conductor of the Moscow State Academic Symphony Orchestra. The musician was awarded the State Prize of Russia for the performance of all symphonies, vocal and symphonic works by Gustav Mahler. He is a People's Artist of Russia, a full member of the Russian Academy of Arts, a holder of the Order of Merit for the Fatherland IV and III degrees, as well as the owner of other Russian and international awards.
On 22 April, 2021, in the Great Hall of the Moscow Conservatory, the Moscow State Academic Symphony Orchestra under the direction of Pavel Kogan, as part of the Philharmonic subscription No. 88 “Masterpieces of World Choral Music”, will present to the audience a concert with the performance of the great cantata-oratorio masterpiece by K. Orff. The legendary cantata "Carmina Burana" - the most famous work of the German composer of the XXth century Karl Orff. Written in 1937, the cantata still amazes listeners with its monumentality (both in the huge orchestra instrumentation and in duration) and, at the same time, by its artistic democratism, surprisingly combining the “seriousness” of the academic genre and its bright super-vivid presentation.
Conductor - Vladimir Ponkin. The State Academic Choir of Russia named after A. A. Yurlov (music director and chief conductor - Gennady Dmitryak) will also take part in the concert.
